Build a better website with TQS.

Traffic. Leads. Conversions. Your website needs to do a lot. But is it doing enough? Without the luxury of a fully staffed marketing team at your disposal, it’s difficult to make a website people will love. But if you want to stop saying “Whatever, it’s fine,” and start saying, “Holy s***, this is amazing,” we can totally help you do that.

But how do you know if you need help?

First, read this blog. You’ll be able to use our fancy website scoring rubric to grade your website’s performance. All you need to do is write down your scores and we’ll take care of the rest. Here’s how it works.

If you score seven or below, give us a call. ASAP.

If you score between eight and 10, talk to your team. Maybe you can tackle some improvements on your own. If not, you know where to find us.

If you score above 10, congrats! Your website is in pretty good shape. Unless you cheated, of course. In which case, hey—you’re only cheating yourself.

Anyway, here’s the thing we were just talking about.

Audience & Messaging

To whom are you talking? How do you want them to feel? What do you want them to do? If your website fails to address these questions, you’re a long way from establishing your brand online. Take a closer look at your website and be honest—is your messaging on-target and on-brand?

Our website does not identify a specific audience or messaging strategy. We know who our audience is, but I’m not sure we’re hitting the mark throughout the site. Our website speaks to specific audiences, clearly and consistently, with compelling messaging and calls to action.

Content

Have you established a voice for your business? Does it have a personality? Is it the right personality? It’s okay if you don’t know, because not everyone does. In fact, a lot of businesses don’t. But yes, you need a definitive, engaging voice from page to page, product to product, and sentence to sentence.

Our content does not establish a definitive voice. It’s really all over the map.Our content is not poorly written, but it’s not going to make anyone fall in love with us.Our content consistently establishes an authentic voice that reflects our definitive brand strategy.

Graphic Design

Website technology moves at a mile a minute, right? Well, the same goes for website design. You need an eye-catching logo. You need a fresh palette of colors. You need a design and layout that looks great and funnels your visitors to whatever action you’re hoping to accomplish. If it’s been a while since you gave your website design a facelift, it may be starting to sag in some areas.

My neighbor’s son’s girlfriend designed our website at her summer camp in 2012. It’s…not great. Our website looks fine. I don’t love it and don’t hate. Our website is incredibly easy on the eyes and is designed to delight the audience and capture leads.

User Experience

Your website should create an uber-easy, ultra-engaging user experience. You need your visitors to explore your site, learn about your business, fall in love with your brand, and take action. Clean. Clear. Smooth. Easy. And you need to know who’s visiting, what they checked out, and how they got there. There are many constantly evolving components to a compelling and engaging user experience, and it never happens on accident. Or without the help of highly trained professionals (hint, hint). How does your site measure up?

Our website is riddled with broken links, bad programming, and images that take forever to load. I have no idea who’s coming or going or how they got there. We do our best, but it’s tough to keep up with the latest and greatest. We get some leads here and there, but it could be better. Our website easy to navigate and measures the imprint of a visitor’s journey. It has all the bells and whistles. We love it!

Did you remember to write down your scores? Nice, now tally them up and see how you did.
