If we had a nickel for everyone who’s asked about TQS Staff summer plans... we’d all have the same amount of money that we have right now. So what are we doing this summer? Hint: it’s not always vacations. Remember when you were a kid and you had 12 weeks of summer vacation? Or that time you read about how Europe gives most of their workers the month of August off to travel the world? Well, you’re about to be that same amount of jealous again. Because here at TQS, we’ve got BIG plans for our summers. Every single one of us is doing really cool stuff. Steve, to start with, is re-grassing his lawn. And with his spare time, he’s going to Delaware. Ever heard of Zoysia grass? Yeah, me either. Steve is going to get the oil changed in his car. He says he’ll just get the one, but I suspect he might be able to squeeze in two before summer is over. If he’s lucky. Jerry’s going to take his nephew to Bills training camp. He’s going to get Taylor some autographs, and he doesn’t care what it costs him. He’s looking forward to some invasive doctor’s appointments, and fondly remembering the summer his parents took him to Disney World to ruin one final family vacation before they got divorced. Dennise has some seriously big plans. She’s going to Canada for the Women’s World Cup, and chanting “USA” all the way there. She’ll be so inspired by the female athletes that she’s going to get a gym membership when she gets back. Once she went to NYC on summer vacation and remembers it as a great vacation. I guess when you grow up in Puerto Rico, summer in NYC might not feel (or smell) like the worst place in the world. Chris once briefly talked to his wife about possibly taking the kids to Darien Lake. No decisions have been made. You’ll be updated as I am. Chris’s favorite part about summer vacation as a kid was not having to go to school. Chris (and Steve, actually) feels very strongly about humidity. It’s the humidity that gets you. He prefers humidity to be at 56%. Madison is going to Mexico! And hopefully coming back from Mexico, too. She’s got a lot of cleaning to do. So much that she has to clean every week, whether she goes to Mexico or not. When Madison was little, she hated getting interrupted by school when she was just trying to spend time with her family. That’s the best part of summer vacation – not being interrupted by useless things like education when you’re just trying to do crafts with your mom. Mark is so excited about his summer plans that he can’t stop talking about them. He’s renovating his home. In more ways than one. That’s as specific as I can be. When he was a kid he loved swimming and playing hockey. Hockey seems like more of a winter sport, but he lives in the Northtowns and things are weird up there. He’s going to play with his kids this summer too. And what about me? I might go to Denver. More likely, I’ll stay in Buffalo and do some bird watching. Bird watching is really important in my family. We watch for warblers until we get warbler neck. Unfamiliar? Maybe you should think about broadening your horizons a little. It’s hard to believe that seven people who all work in the same office can have such different plans for the summer. What do we all have in common? We’d all rather it be 90 and sunny than 30 and sunny. Except Jerry. That’s why the rest of us hang out all the time and never invite him. Do you have exciting plans for the summer? Don’t tell us. We don’t care.
