Ever wonder what your five-year-old thinks of your favorite TV commercial? Or what creative advertising folks discuss in their down time at the office? We thought you probably did, so we decided to help answer some of those burning questions by writing a blog. But before we go any further, a question: Why is it that most people subscribe to a DVR service so that they can fast-forward through the ads during their favorite TV shows, and yet millions tune in to the Super Bowl just to watch the ads? Answer: Because advertisers go all-out for the Super Bowl. They’ve invested millions to have their ad air during one of the top television events of the year. And they want to make sure they put their best, most creative, most compelling foot forward. In those 30 seconds, they have a captive audience of millions who, otherwise, try their hardest to ignore most advertising. And why do they usually ignore most advertising? Because most advertising is boring. At The Quilted Squirrel, we treat every project we touch like a Super Bowl commercial. We don’t settle for “just another ad.” We don’t want our work to be the stuff you fast-forward to get to the real content – we want our work to be the stuff you tune-in to watch. Just like a Super Bowl ad. And then we want you to tell all your friends about it – simply because it was so engaging and unexpected. That’s what we call a “raving fan.” So to create some raving fans of our own, we’re writing a blog. We have a team of super duper, extra smart and creative people, and they sometimes have interesting things to say. Not things like “10 ways to increase your social media following.” Things more like “If you reverse the words in bad-ass, it means exactly the opposite!” Sometimes more interesting than that. Sometimes less. Sometimes exactly that interesting. Should you choose to read our banter, you’ll have the pleasure of reading about the work that we do and how we do it. You’ll also get to learn about why we think mouse poop on a desk is exciting. Sometimes. Over time, you’ll (hopefully) learn to love the people at The Quilted Squirrel who work hard to make advertising less intrusive and more fun. Occasionally, you might even see some thoughts on marketing from strangers who we force to talk to us while they’re out trying to run errands. If you play your cards right and run errands in Hamburg, NY, maybe you’ll even get to be one of those unlucky people. Some posts you might find more relevant than others. But we hope you’ll keep reading each week. And telling your friends. And maybe next year when the Super Bowl commercials come on, you won’t be as impressed because you’ve already gotten your fill of super creative, top-of-the-game advertising, courtesy of TQS.
